Keytrade Bank focuses on inclusion "by design"

Accessible and inclusive design is better design. Keytrade Bank has enlisted our help to make their products and services more accessible. Starting June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) will require banks and many other organizations to ensure their applications meet accessibility standards. We began this project with an accessibility audit of the website and app, advising Keytrade Bank on how they can work more inclusively "by design."

The challenge

One in four people lives with a disability

25% of the European population has a disability, making it challenging for them to use digital services smoothly. Keytrade Bank aims to fully serve everyone with their banking and investment applications.

From mid-2025, the EAA will require organizations to publicly disclose information about the accessibility of their services. This accessibility statement describes to which extent you meet the accessibility standards, what needs improvement, and where users can seek assistance.

To prepare an accessibility statement, Keytrade Bank first needed insight into the accessibility of their own website and app. Our audit report, based on the European accessibility standard EN 301 549 provides these insights.

The solution

Clear and comprehensive insight into your digital services’ accessibility

Our expert audit is a thorough assessment of compliance with accessibility criteria. Through an online report via CAAT, you receive a comprehensive and clear overview with suggestions for improvement. Our report details how each touchpoint scores according to the European standard EN 301 549. This standard includes the criteria of WCAG version 2.1 levels A and AA.

Moreover, it is essential to ensure accessibility and inclusion throughout the development process of the app and website. With every update and change, think of considering inclusion and accessibility as fundamental starting points.

Thanks to clear descriptions and prioritization we could quickly and efficiently address the most critical issues. Craftzing proved to be an outstanding partner, providing expert guidance promptly. Together, we are working towards digital inclusion 'by design'.

The result

Testing Keytrade Bank websites & apps

In consultation with Keytrade Bank, we prepared four reports. We sampled representative pages from their public website, the secure website, the iOS app, and the Android app.

Each touchpoint received a report detailing the criteria and their status.

For each identified issue, you receive a detailed description. This description includes the pages on which the issue occurs, for which criterion it fails, the severity of the problem, and who's best suited to resolve it. These issues are also provided as a .csv file to import into a bug tracker like Jira.

The criteria are complex, so we focus on providing clear problem descriptions. With code examples, screenshots, screen recordings, and adjustment suggestions, we deliver a report that helps you move forward.

Getting started with the results

One of our accessibility specialists will discuss the report with your team, allowing you to ask additional questions. An audit is just the first step in making your products and services accessible.

With our reports, you can immediately start implementing improvements. However, a broader approach is necessary to ensure long-term accessibility. This includes testing the underlying design system, building internal knowledge, incorporating accessibility into the workflow, and fostering a culture of digital inclusion.

At Craftzing, a team of Certified Professionals in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) and a Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) assists you with your specific challenges.
